Who are we?
Jennifer Billingslea & Hilary Lamb are certified teachers with 20 years of combined experience in top ranked districts in the North DFW area. We are certified in General Education K-6, Special Education PreK – 12, and English as a Second Language. Our teaching experience is primarily at the elementary level in special education, teaching students with mild to moderate disabilities in inclusive classrooms. We know the academic demands are constantly increasing and have experience working with each child’s teacher to develop meaningful intervention plans while keeping state standards in mind. Our certification and public school teaching experience gives us the ability to differentiate our instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. The goal of the program is to fill in the gaps of essential skills needed to be successful in the school setting.
How did we begin?
Jennifer Billingslea and Hilary Lamb met as special education teachers at a public school in North DFW. We quickly realized we had the same level of passion for our students, enjoyed teamwork and collaboration, and we even shared a love for school supplies. Over the years we developed a deep trust and understanding for each other in the classroom as well as in our personal lives. We have a passion for working with students and teaching them skills they thought they would never achieve. We wanted to create a place for students and family members to feel accepted, appreciated, and empowered.
Who is a candidate for the program?
The CREW program is beneficial for all types of learners, from students who are on grade level and need an extra push to students who need help academically and/or emotionally. Students who have been identified as having ADHD or possible learning disabilities would benefit from the CREW program as a targeted intervention before seeking a full individual educational evaluation. Students with a family history of ADHD, dyslexia, or Autism Spectrum Disorders would benefit from small group instruction to increase self esteem and confidence in the classroom. When you set up a consultation, we will work with you to determine appropriate educational or social goals and a schedule of services to best meet your child’s needs.
