Who is a candidate for the program?
The CREW Kindergarten Readiness Program is beneficial for all types of preschool learners. We provide enrichment tutoring for preschoolers, kindergarten readiness tutoring for students at or below expected level, and special needs tutoring for students with or suspected learning disabilities, ADHD, and high-functioning Autism.
Students with summer birthdays may also benefit from additional support prior to and during their kindergarten year to help close the gap to their older kindergarten peers.
WHY?
Within the first 3 weeks of the kindergarten school year children are expected to acclimate to new social norms, large group learning, and more formalized instruction in a full day program. Within the first few weeks of your child being in kindergarten, public school districts are testing your kindergartener with state and district assessments.
By October parents attend their first parent-teacher conference and the stage is set for what the child knows and how much they are expected to grow over the course of the year. Students who have not been exposed to kindergarten readiness skills are often at a disadvantage because they aren’t accustomed to reading and math being presented in different, often unnatural ways. They appear to be at-risk when really the issue is they were not exposed to pre-requisite kindergarten content and learning strategies. This can be disheartening to parents who know their child is bright and capable, and it can paint an inaccurate picture of a child’s intellectual ability.
Our goal is to provide each child with the skills and confidence to be able to meaningfully participate in a traditional kindergarten classroom. We create fun, hands-on learning opportunities that make kids look forward to their CREW time each week.
